Revels chorus members have a wide variety of musical backgrounds and skills. Choral singing experience is generally required for placement in the adult chorus. Ability to read music and sight-read is a plus but not absolutely required since our rehearsal schedule allows quite a bit of time to memorize music for the show. Theatrical experience of some kind is also helpful. Other factors go into the choice of cast members besides singing abilities, and requirements vary from year to year.

Adult chorus requirements

age 13 and up

The audition requirements for adults include preparing a piece of music to sing (no "pop" songs, please):

• A short unaccompanied song of your choice or...
• A verse or 2 of any traditional carol

The audition process also includes singing with others.

Children's chorus requirements

age 7-11

Audition requirements for children:

• Prepare a short song or carol to sing unaccompanied (no "pop" songs, please).

The audition process includes singing and moving with other children.

Children must be less than 5 feet tall.

Rehearsal schedule

• Every Monday evening, September 15th through November 24th
• Monday rehearsal times: Adults and teens 7–10pm, children 6–7:30pm
• Saturday September 13th kick-off retreat for all cast members
• Two full weekend rehearsals, October (18th and 19th) and November (15th and 16th)
• Production week rehearsals, Saturday November 29th through Wednesday December 3rd
• Preview performance, Thursday December 4th
